RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

I'm just messin with ya drake that is the natural reaction to clamp on until the brain registers to let off. If you're not used to the twist it takes a second to compute.

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

Hey drake317 when you stop in you're car do you step on the brake harder and harder the more you stop. Or how about braking on you're quad do you push the thumb throtle forward when stopping. Don't reach so far around the handle bar when grabing the twist throttle then when you slide back it wont twist the throttle more. Cmon man coordination. Let off the throttle!!!

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

comrad,,they are different,, one falls over if you don't put you're feet down when you stop. Just kiddin ,take it easy. I've been riding for 40 years, I know the difference. I like the twist on my quads could be an old habit from the years of riding bikes but seriously. There is no draw backs to the twist. The bumps don't make you stab the throttle and turning either way has no effect. The twist throttle is always in the right position to turn just the right amount because it's just a tube and doesn't matter where you grab it. It's not a fight it's an opinion.

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

Flat track and speedway ,,,,, the bikes spend all their time lock to lock with twist throttle. No problem,,, Can't do that with a thumb turning to the right.

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

I don't see how a four wheeler and dirt bike seem so different. The relationship between seat, gas tank, handle bars and foot pegs is the same. You sit in the same position and all controls are located in the same place.

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

The twist throttle works the same going straight or turning. There are 6 people in our group that use twist throttles and after giving them a chance would never go back. I know 1 person that went back to a thumb throttle. If you roll you're bars forward enough to clear you're leg when you're up on you're tank climbing then the ends stick up in the air like bull horns. If you're doing wheelies and give it too much throttle on you're dirt bike try letting off a little bit.

RE: Thumb Throttle vs Twist Throttle

Nothing but twist for me. When you stand up or get up over the bars going up something steep the thumb throttle is at the same position that only works well when sitting. Stand up on you're quad and look at the angle of you're thumb related to pushing a thumb throttle straight forward. Also turning hard to the right sometimes bumps the thumb throttle against you're right leg gassing it when you don't mean to. The twist works at all angles the same. I also grew up on bikes so thats what I like. Just an opinion.

RE: polaris 450mxr or 525s

So you're saying 8 one hundreds of one second is smoking it. you realize thats the distance of a foot or so right. And am I right thinking the polaris has razrs and the raptor has******stock tires. just saying. I own polaris and yamaha quads. I'm not leaning toward one or the other but smoked is a big margine. Ready to move this to fight club?

RE: Ok to ride without endcap on Pipe???

How did I miss this one? Yes put you're pipe back together. I have read test on this subject and never did removing the spark arrestor or end cap add power or performance and in some cases even decreased it. Noise does not equal power just because it's louder. There is alot of research and development involved in building after market pipes. They do that for a reason. With you're thinking just remove the whole exhaust system and it would really be fast.

RE: polaris 450mxr or 525s

525 smokes the Raptor? Strange none of the magazine test had that result. Yours must be a limited edition. Very limited edition. The polaris is an awesome machine but the Raptor is too. Smokes the Raptor? Cmon. You're talking to people that ride these quads.

RE: Pledge

I guarantee my kid has respect for his country. He nows he's American and proud of it. When he turned 17 he told me he wanted a tatoo but I had to sign a release. I told him I wouldn't do it and he was making a mistake. Then he showed me a picture of an American flag that he wanted to get done. He's 21 now and it still looks damn good.

RE: some questions about wheel bearings for wolverine 350

Wheel bearings are easy to replace unless you wait too long. Once they seize up and start coming apart they create heat and the races really bind into the hubs. It can get pretty ugly trying to get them out. You said trails that are to rough for the Raptor. I've never found a trail that was to rough. Where we ride our Raptors is nothing but rocks, ledges, boulders and terrain that makes the 4x4 guys cringe. If it's easy it's boring. Take the Raptor, get up on that thing and ride it. Too rough for the Raptor, give me a break.

RE: 700xx buyer review in the trails

In the test in quad magazine they said in the rough it would buck and was rough. The test rider said that if you stayed on the gas hard it helped but as soon as you let off the harsh ride was back. In the test riders own words (I can't seem to find alot of nice things to say about the suspension or steering either. The rear shocks spring rate was too stiff or the damping was off or both. The ride was choppy and harsh.Pro racer Nic Granlund said stay close to the bars and stay on the throttle to help keep the backend from swapping.) It was so rough in the whoops the seat popped off. I'm sure Honda will get it worked out but in this test at least it doesn't sound too good.

RE: 700xx buyer review in the trails

Quote from test in Quad magazine June/July. : (I was a little surprised the engine didn't have more snap being that it's a 700- class sport machine. Gut comparison the Raptor feels more powerful overall in every area of the engines curve. Seat of the pants acceleration just wasn't there. Even riding on hard packed desert terrain it still didn't pull very hard.): Read the test. Sounds to me like Honda has some work to do to get it competitive with the Raptor. They also said the suspension wasn't up to par.
